The Missouri Hemp Association LLC is proud to announce the addition of our newest Business Member, New West Genetics, a hemp seed company based out of Ft. Collins, Colorado.

New West Genetics Business Member“We’re happy New West has joined our organization and are excited to work with their varieties,” said Bill Cook MHA Executive Director. “This industry is in need of stable, proven genetics that work for our row crop producers, and we believe New West Genetics can help us provide those genetics to our members.”

New West Genetics, founded in 2014, has spent the last seven years selecting the most promising genetics with row crop farmers in mind, breeding hemp varieties that are 3rd party validated to have high germination, vigor, and yield. Their varieties are ideal for row crop production and can be directly sowed and mechanically harvested. In 2017, New West Genetics became the first hemp seed company in the U.S. to receive AOSCA certification for one their “Elite” variety and they continue to apply for and receive AOSCA certifications as well as PVP for newly released varieties.

Their variety ABOUNDTM, launched in 2020, offers farmers a novel row crop approach to producing hemp. This dioecious variety is direct seeded and produces three potential revenue streams – CBD, grain, and fiber. The results are a fully mechanically produced crop with high yield, competitive CBD, and USDA compliant THC levels all the way through maturity.

The varieties Elite and Abound are both certified organic, so organic farmers and conventional farmers can both use them.

New West Genetics Director of Business Development, Jennifer Boyd, noted “The costs of production of ABOUND are less than a fifth of most genetics on the market. We are excited to work closely with Bill Cook and his team to bring premium, well bred, more affordable seed varieties to the expert row crop producers of Missouri.”
